VECTOR
IMAGES
Vector image is made up of lines and paths formed
by mathematical equations, these mathematical can consist of anything; square,
triangle or a curvy line.
Vector images can be scaled to any size and not
lose any of its existing quality, this is good for company who are looking to
advertise on a big scale by using bill boards.
These are two vector images that can be scaled to
any size, the left being some-ones creation and the right being popular logos
of brands
I have created a vector image in illustrator when
doing unit 78 mock assignment
RASTER
IMAGES
raster
images are pictured that are taken from a camera and ten transfered into
computers, raster images are usally bigger then vectors and always pixeated
file type:
BMP,TIFF,GIF,JPEG
THE PIXEL
Short for
picture element.
Small dots
that use colours that blend together to make your picture, either on your
tv,LCD or any piece of equipment that can project an image.
4-Bit
8-Bit
16-Bit
24- Bit
32-Bit
In a digital
file, the number of colours for an image; calculated as 2 to the power of the
bit depth; for example, a bit depth of 8 supports up to 256 colours, and a bit
depth of 24 supports up to 16 million colours.
COLOUR DEPTH
the number
of exact colours that can be shown in a certain piece of software sometimes
shown or said as bit depth,
a bit depth
of 8 supports up to 256 colors, and a bit depth of 24 supports up to 16 million
colors.
COLOUR
MODELS
RGB, CMYK
and HSB these are the modles used genrally its RGB but when printing its CMYK
because of the bit depth and there is more presicion
RESOLUTION
In
computers, resolution is the number of pixels contained on a computer screen
/display . The sharpness of the image on a display depends on the resolution
and the size of the monitor. The same pixel resolution will be sharper on a
smaller monitor and gradually lose sharpness on larger monitors because the
same number of pixels are being spread out over a larger number of inches.
ANTI-ALIASING
is basically
getting rid of any jagged lines to ake them look sharp and look better and make
te lines appear smooth
ASPECT RATIO
the width
and height of a file image,
A motion picture's aspect ratio often appears
on the back of the DVD or video box. An example would be 1.85:1. This means
that the size of the original theatrical presentation of that film is 1.85
times as wide as it is high.
FILE FORMATS
- bmp, png, gif, tiff, jpg, psd, pdf,
eps and ai
BMP-The BMP
file format, also known as bitmap image file
PNG-is a
raster graphics file format that supports lossless data compression.
GIF-The
format supports up to 8 bits per pixel for each image, allowing a single image
to reference its own palette of up to 256 different colours chosen from the
24-bit RGB colour space.
TIFF- is a
computer file format for storing raster graphics images, popular among graphic
artists, the publishing industry and photographers.
PSD-Photoshop
document file extension( portable storage device)
EPS-files
are more-or-less self-contained, reasonably predictable PostScript documents
that describe an image or drawing and can be placed within another PostScript
document.
AI- Adobe Illustrator
COMPRESSION
is when you
use a zip folder to delete un wanted information/data so this is compressed and
so it can be moved easier and transferred
IMAGE
CAPTURE DEVICES
Camera, or
any portable device that can capture an image
OPTIMISING
to make it
this best it can be in quality or anything like connection or speed.
STORAGE AND
ASSET MANAGEMENT
The term storage management encompasses the technologies and processes
organizations use to maximize or improve the performance of their data storage
resources.
